About
Kelly Matos
Kelly Matos for Mayor
Kelly Matos currently serves as Borough of High Bridge Council President. As a successful business owner, she understands that true leadership and operational success is built on a foundation of Communication, Accountability, and Respect—a principle she calls 'CAR.' After serving the Borough as a volunteer for five years, she was elected to council in 2024 and is committed to bringing this CAR philosophy to the mayoral seat. After moving to High Bridge in 2017, Matos discovered a passion for local history through her home’s history, inspiring her to become an active, contributing member of the community. She joined the High Bridge Historical Committee in 2019, taking the helm as chairwoman in 2021 - 2023. Matos has been instrumental in preserving the borough’s history, leading the revitalization of the historic Solitude House, securing $269,000 in preservation grant funding and serving as an alternate member on the Borough’s planning board (2022 – 2023). Matos is focused on bridging the gap between residents and the governing body by rebuilding trust and engaging residents, fostering transparency, transforming community assets into sustainable revenue opportunities and maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Joseph Brosnan
Joseph A. Brosnan for Council
Joseph A. Brosnan currently serves as a Class IV member on the Borough of High Bridge Planning Board. As a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer and Licensed Professional Planner, he decided to run for Borough Council because he is committed to long-term service and making a lasting impact on his community. Since moving to High Bridge in 2021, Brosnan has quickly established himself as a dedicated community advocate. After joining the planning board as an alternate in 2023, he was sworn in as a full-time member in 2024. Brosnan’s interest in the Borough’s history led him to join the High Bridge Historical Committee in 2025, strengthening the team with his professional expertise. Brosnan is dedicated to transparent governance and welcomes the opportunity to engage with residents, offering insight into how the planning board navigates complex decisions to shape the community.
Natalie Ferry
Natalie Ferry for Council
Natalie Ferry is currently serving the Borough of High Bridge in her third term on council. She is running for re election to the seat she has occupied since 2018, remaining dedicated to her role as a public servant. She believes that active community engagement is key to fostering a thriving environment. After moving to High Bridge in 2014, Ferry immediately immersed herself in the community, rising from the High Bridge Events Committee volunteer to chair. Over the last eight years she has served as council liaison to many of the Borough’s standing committees including: historical committee (2018 – 2023 & 2026), Economic Ddevelopment Committee (2023 & 2026), Events Committee (2018 – 2022), Board of Education (2024 – 2025), Board of Health (2026) and Borough newsletter and website (2023 – 2024). She was the Class III Planning Board member from 2021 - 2023 and Council President in 2022 and 2023. Ferry is dedicated to fostering better communication and increased accountability to better serve the Borough. With direct experience under two mayors, she understands that to achieve necessary improvements, we need a fundamental realignment of our leadership culture to drive performance and trust.
Platform
Stop the Squeeze!
- The message from our community is loud and clear: taxes are too high, and relief is overdue. It is now time to:
- 1. Reduce municipal costs thorough shared services.
- 2. Identify and cut non-essential expenses.
- 3. Protect the taxpayer and operate within our means.
- 4. Mitigate legal risks.
Keep the Golf Course in the Green!
- The taxpayers have subsidized the golf course for more than 25 years, but the promised tax relief remains undelivered. It is now time to:
- 1. Thoroughly review the audit to find any deficits and protect Borough funds.
- 2. Establish a self-sustaining operation at the course.
- 3. Implement management of the course that directly benefits residents.
- 4. Ensure a predictable and steady revenue stream through rental of the course, if practical.
Stop the Leaks! Stop the Hikes!
- Residents are frustrated by rising utility costs that fail to reflect the quality of service. It is now time to:
- 1. Secure infrastructure repair and maintenance for the future to lower utilities costs.
- 2. Prioritize sewer repairs to eradicate Inflow & Infiltration (I&I) expenses.
- 3. Streamline road paving schedules to prevent duplicate work.
- 4. Maximize funding opportunities (grants and low interest loans) to reduce project costs and deliver vital infrastructure repairs.
Action for the Community, Trust for the Future!
- Residents love High Bridge, but broken communication, diminishing volunteerism and decreasing Borough events have devastated their trust in leadership. It is now time to:
- 1. Increase communication with residents, keep website updated and build a resident hotline.
- 2. Create and publicize a schedule of Borough construction projects for residents to stay in the know!
- 3. Advocate volunteer community engagement and re-establish inactive committees.
- 4. Make our Borough more connected with fun events and the return of Community Day.
Reignite Economic Development!
- Our Borough once shared a strong, collaborative partnership with local businesses and organizations, but that synergy has faded over time. It is now time to:
- 1. Promote Borough tourism and all its events.
- 2. Streamline local regulations.
- 3. Support our small businesses.
- 4. Collaborate with our community groups.
