About

John Kashwick

John Kashwick

John Kashwick brings decades of professional and municipal experience to the Clinton Town Council. Now retired, John spent 21 years at The New York Times, where he worked in financial planning and analysis. His background in budgeting and long-term financial planning informs his approach to municipal government and his commitment to responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

John was first elected to the Clinton Town Council in 2022 and is now completing his second term. As Chair of Clinton’s Environmental Commission and Green Team, he has secured grants for pollinator gardens, tree planting, community energy planning, and riverbank restoration. John led the effort to establish Clinton’s Open Space Trust Fund, overwhelmingly approved by voters, and has supported major investments to protect the quality of Clinton’s drinking water.

Before moving to Clinton, John served nine years on the Closter Borough Council, where his responsibilities included finance and human resources and where he gained significant experience in historic preservation. He brings that experience to Clinton, combining responsible financial management with a commitment to protecting the character of our historic community.

Kim Stentz

Kim Stentz

For Kim Stentz, Clinton isn't just the town she serves—it's been her home for 30 years. Kim raised her four children here and served as a Girl Scout leader, giving her a deep connection to the community she now represents. She volunteered with the PTO and Booster Club at Clinton Public School. A pharmacist who continues to work part-time, Kim also brings years of professional experience and a commitment to public service to her work on Council.

Since joining the Clinton Town Council in 2024, Kim has brought a thoughtful, practical approach to local government. She has supported improvements to Clinton’s parks, playgrounds, and critical infrastructure, as well as the town’s sustainability initiatives, while maintaining a focus on responsible spending and ensuring that Clinton continues to provide the services residents depend on.

As Council liaison to the Shade Tree Commission, Kim secured a $32,000 grant for tree planting throughout Clinton, bringing outside funding into the community to help maintain and expand the town’s tree canopy. After more than three decades in Clinton, Kim remains committed to preserving its small-town character and strong sense of community while planning responsibly for its future.
